Halloween is right around the corner and I’m seeing all these creative costumes and I think to myself, “Holy crap, how do people have time to put these together”. My solution is to get my husband and I t-shirts and just draw something funny on them (yes, we’re the lame couple that arrives to a Halloween party with a lame costume). I ordered these markers since I wanted to out-do myself this year versus a basic black marker from last year and was pleasantly surprised with the color variety they give you in the 12 pack – both a bold/thick ink tip and a fine/thin ink tip. The colors are really bold and the only thing that was difficult when testing this product, was how the tip would catch on the shirt when drawing a line. Granted, I grabbed an old t-shirt to check these out – had I been really serious about my design, I maybe would have put cardboard under the first layer to see if that would help…or perhaps even newer fabric would be more crisp and not catch as much with the marker tips making the fabric stretch and my lines not be straight. Or I could just be really terrible at drawing lines, LOL.
The photos below show the product itself, then my attempt at a rainbow to show the bright colors. I was rather im
pressed with how vibrant they were, but that is where it ends. The third photo shows the shirt after I washed it. They do give pretty clear instructions to use cold water only, which I followed exactly but was more than disappointed when I saw how much it faded. On the plus side, the colors didn’t go into my other whites (you know, I washed things like my husband’s socks where I figured it didn’t really matter…) The fourth photo is after drying under the normal setting with medium heat. Photos below the shirt demo show the only instructions given with the product. In reviewing other’s comments about the shirts, someone mentioned you had to iron the shirt to set the ink, but one would think if that is a critical step the manufacturer would write that in the package instructions – how many of us really go through all the reviews to find one comment that says something like that (if it’s even true)?
In summary, great markers if it’s a one time use kind of thing – other than than, I’d be pretty bummed if I spent a good deal of time drawing something only to have it turn out like this.
*I was fortunate to receive this product for free. I am not obligated to proceed with any reviews but am giving my honest impressions ofthis product after using it.
